Greetings members! The Industrial PhD and Post Doc Association needs your energy and ideas. Let us know whether you would like to take a leadership role on the board. Our association represents the students of Denmark’s Industrial PhD program, recognizes outstanding industrial research, promotes networking and career opportunities, and advocates for Denmark’s industrial research agenda. Get involved to promote industrial research and ensure the quality educational experiences for students and alumni.
The theme of the 2016 communication prize was “Communicate Your Research”. The assignment was to write about research results within your own research area to the science interested readers of www.videnskab.dk and www.sciencenordic.com. It was possible to hand in a contribution in English or Danish.
In collaboration with videnskab.dk, sciencenordic.com and Maja Horst, Head of Department at Department of Media, Cognition and Communication at University of Copenhagen, we found the three winning contributions.
The 2016 Communication prizes of 16.000 DKK, 8.000 DKK and 4.000 DKK, respectively, were awarded by the Chair of Folketingets Uddannelses og Forskningsudvalg Christine Antorini (S) at the annual meeting of The Danish Academy of Technical Sciences held at IDA Congress Hall on April 26.
The winners were:
First prize: ”Er der værdi i dine underbukser?” by Industrial PhD student Nynne Nørup, Ulandshjælp fra Folk til Folk – Humana People to People (UFF-Humana) & DTU Miljø
Second prize: ”Cirkulær økonomi – når miljøarbejdet møder forretningen” by Industrial PhD student Jonas Pagh Jensen, Siemens Wind Power & Institut for Planlægning, Aalborg Universitet
Third prize: ”Who said what and how did they say it? Improving cochlear implants with cortical responses” by Industrial Postdoc David Jackson Morris, Oticon Medical og Institut for Nordiske Studier og Sprogvidenskab, Københavns Universitet
All three winning contributions of the 2016 Communication Prize will be published at www.videnskab.dk and www.sciencenordic.com
To promote the young researchers communication skills further, the Industrial PhD & Postdoc Association, arranged a communication seminar, where the participants got feedback on their articles and insight into how researchers can catch the interest both of the general public and in their own company.
